A partnership between South Carolina running events and clubs, major corporations and local businesses supporting the Velocity Distance Project, has been established in order to provide elite-level runner training programs for youth to adult, and beginner to elite.
Making a Difference
The Velocity Distance Project is a training, marketing and promotional partnership for the long-term development of U.S. distance athletes, so that they can compete successfully in both local and national competitions, including major championship events.
The Velocity Distance Project Purpose
The Velocity Distance Project is dedicated to increasing the opportunities for, and the number of long-distance running athletes, by creating training centers and road races that will produce more regional and national top-notch long-distance runners. Centers will provide high-level coaching assistance, promotion of athletes, training summits, training camps, and/or sponsor recruitment assistance.
The Velocity Distance Project training center offers athletes a variety of supportive programs. These include personalized coaching, group training environment, cutting-edge training and conditioning equipment, sports psychology focus training, VO2 max, Heart Rate, Lactate Threshold, and Metabolic testing and assessment services.
Second, the Velocity Distance Project will promote running and lifelong fitness to thousands of local residents through events such as instructional clinics, group fun runs, motivational seminars, and running camps. These programs will supplement, educate, and enrich existing fitness-based organizations. This will make the Velocity Distance Project Training Center an epicenter of healthy living in the Columbia, South Carolina Metro area, providing valuable resources to the area’s youth and adults pursuing a healthy and active lifestyle.
Third, the Velocity Distance Project will sponsor an elite and open team for regional runners and develop, manage and promote local races. While providing a variety of services to its members, revenue will be generated from race promotions, instructional clinics and coaching fees. These proceeds will help support the Velocity Distance Project’s scholarship program and elite athlete team creating a sustainable business model.
